The 2022 legislation (Senate Bill 213) expanded the Employer-Based Child Care Facility Grant Program to include $10 million dollars of federal funding with a spending deadline of 2026.

The next round of Employer Based Child Care Facility funding is now open and will close on August 30, 2023 at 1 p.m. MST. The RFA can be found on the Vendor Self-Service website.

The grant program provides funding to construct, remodel, renovate, or retrofit a child care center on the site or near to the site of the entity’s property to provide licensed child care services to the eligible entity’s employees.

For-profit, non-profit, and government entities can apply for this grant. The focus of these grants is for non-child care entities to create on-site or near-site child care for their employees. Even if an entity is working with a child care partner, the non-child care entity should submit the application.

The Colorado Department of Early Childhood (CDEC) has partnered with Executives Partnering to Invest in Children (EPIC) for an Employer-Based Child Care Design Lab to support employers and community partnerships wanting to learn about the creation of on-site or near-site child care programs. Employers including for-profit, non-profit, and government entities are all welcome to participate.

The next round of applications for the Employer-Based Design Lab will open in early 2024.
